About the role

As a Key Account Manager, you will work in our busy Industrial & Commercial section, working with major customers. The role would particularly suit Graduates who are enthusiastic, keen to forge a career and who have strong bent towards problem solving and relationship building.

The Key Account Manager role involves attending customer meetings, working from our offices in London and/or Perthshire, as well as working from home. Location is flexible across GB.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with major customers on complex billing and service issues relating to water usage, waste treatment and validation of charges using state of the art systems.
  • Responsible for a portfolio of high value key customers, including managing relationships and personally resolving queries and issues.
  • Meet or exceed the customer expectations. Listen to customer needs and translate those into action that meets or exceeds customer satisfaction goals in terms of delivery, quality, responsiveness, and customer focus.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the customer relationship for your customers, and for tactical execution of established contract terms.
  • Develop a close understanding and knowledge of each customer’s business requirements.
  • Develop a close understanding of the business water market and regulatory environment.
  • Build and develop multi-level relationships with both customers and internal contacts.
  • Partner with internal functions to communicate and manage the needs of the customer.
  • Responsible for solution creation and opportunity identification for your customers.
  • Personally manage customer queries through to resolution.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Opportunity for involvement in systems development and testing.
  • Preparation of data and analysis for customers, continually analysing markets, account performance and profit.
  • Develop constructive working relationships with other KAMs and relevant internal departments.
  • Responsible for operational KPIs for their portfolio.
  • Must be able to travel to meet customers and to attend company offices in London and/or Blairgowrie (Perthshire).

Key Skills & Experience

  • Good first degree (or equivalent), ideally with postgraduate qualifications, with up to 2 years’ experience – degree discipline is less important than analytical capability.
  • Experience of working in a demanding environment with the ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see and plan short-, medium- and longer-term goals and horizons.
  • High level of numeracy with experience of using Excel to an advanced level
  • IT literate with the ability to deliver sound analytical data to both the customer base and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly skilled relationship builder at all levels of the customer base
  • Ability to thrive in a high-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated with a passion to drive results.
  • Great negotiation skills with strong presentation ability to enable the delivery of customer meetings.
  • Must possess advanced verbal and written communication, organisational and troubleshooting skills.
