Employees of Castle Water, the UK’s leading independent water retailer, have raised over £1,350 by making ‘the world better with a sweater’ on Christmas Jumper Day 2019. Christmas Jumper Day is a firm date in the Castle Water calendar and, this year, employees have set a new fundraising record for the popular, festive event.

Organised by Save the Children, this annual campaign encourages people to wear their best Christmas jumper on a day when over 5 million people across the UK join together in staging bake-offs, raffles and a variety of other fun activities.

Castle Water is a long-term partner of Save the Children and has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the charity’s Emergency Fund with the help of customers. In March this year, the company signed a further three-year agreement to continue raising significant funds for this vital Fund which ensures that Save the Children can respond as soon as disaster strikes.

In raising awareness, Save the Children’s Partnership Manager, Charlotte Seymore, visited Castle Water’s Blairgowrie offices with Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to give employees a 360° immersive experience of Save the Children’s vital work helping children displaced by conflict in South Sudan.

Charlotte said: “Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day is a great, simple way of helping make the world better with a sweater. Save the Children work in 118 countries across the world including the UK. All donations raised go towards to helping build a better future for children. Since Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day campaign began, it has raised over £5.5 million for children.

It has been wonderful to visit Castle Water to see the many fantastic fundraising efforts.

Employees also enjoyed using Save the Children’s virtual reality headsets and the 360 immersive experience of the type of programme work their efforts will help. Our Emergency Fund enables us to act the moment a crisis occurs, but our work doesn’t end after the emergency has passed. For example, Save the Children’s livelihoods programme in South Sudan has supported displaced children by helping them to re-build their lives after being displaced by conflict.”

While Christmas Jumper Day is now over for this year, for the second year running Castle Water will help to raise money for Save the Children's emergency fund by asking existing customers to switch their payment method to Direct Debit during December. In return, Castle Water will donate £100 for every switch.

Castle Water CEO, John Reynolds OBE, said: “Castle Water is pleased to partner with Save the Children and support their vital work in saving children’s lives, fighting for their rights and helping them to fulfil their potential.

Our employees have made a great effort again this Christmas Jumper Day 2019. As a business, we can still do more and so, throughout December, we will donate £100 to Save the Children when a customer opts to pay by Direct Debit. It's quick and easy to do online at castlewater.co.uk/donate-100.
