Castle Water, the UK’s leading independent water supplier, were proud to once again support and sponsor The Cateran Yomp last weekend at their 10th anniversary fund-raising event, by helping to keep participants, volunteers and employees refreshed and hydrated, all while reducing unnecessary single-use plastic waste.
The Cateran Yomp is an annual event in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and exists to raise vital funds to support soldiers, veterans, and their families. It is the biggest and toughest event of its kind, raising over £345,000 this year alone. Taking part in the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland, teams battle through a 54-mile hike in 24 hours across the rugged terrain of the Scottish Wilderness.
This year, we stationed 6 Water Stops for the main event: four located at the main hub in Blairgowrie and two along the route – which takes the teams through some of the most remote and hidden areas of Scotland. Participants were able to fill their reusable water bottles at one of the 1-gallon Water Stops, minimising the amount of single-use plastic waste.
Katy Wildman, Business Development and Events Manager for ABF Soldiers' Charity said, “A massive thank you to Castle Water yet again for providing water cubes at the 2021 Yomp, which is greatly appreciated by all. As always, it is a great partnership which we hope will continue for future Yomps.”
Castle Water CEO, John Reynolds OBE, added, “Castle Water is delighted to have been able to support this year’s Cateran Yomp and the ABF Soldiers’ Charity. Our water stations ensured that the Yompers had plenty of hydration, while avoiding single-use plastics, which helps protect the environment and local wildlife here in the foothills of the Cairngorms.”
