Blairgowrie-based business water retailer, Castle Water, is celebrating after Chief Executive, John Reynolds OBE, received the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Scotland ‘Rising Star’ award in the Scottish leg of the 2018 EY Entrepreneur of The Year UK awards. The prestigious award was presented at an exclusive event at The Gleneagles Hotel on Thursday, 21 June.
Over the past year Castle Water has undertaken three major acquisitions, which now sees it providing services for more than 300,000 businesses, charities, and public bodies throughout England and Scotland. Aiming to provide a fresh, customer-centric approach to the water business supply industry, the company has focused on investing in its customer services to ensure it delivers a quality, transparent and responsive service for every customer.
On receiving the award, John (Castle Water CEO) said:
This is well-deserved recognition for the incredible work delivered by everyone at Castle Water in establishing the UK’s leading independent water retailer. Castle Water has had a terrific year. We continue to be one of Scotland’s fastest growing companies. Our recipe for success is to work out what our customers want, to give it to them, and not accept anything less.
Now in its 20th year in the UK, the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards celebrate the spirit and contribution of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial businesses.
Nominees from a wide range of business and industry sectors were evaluated on criteria including entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, national and global impact, integrity, leadership, strategic direction and value creation.
The judges commended John and Castle Water on having identified a huge opportunity in the market and seizing it.
Mike Timmins, EY Entrepreneur of The Year Scotland Leader, said:
It takes courage, conviction and curiosity to achieve success as an entrepreneur and it is important to celebrate the contributions they make to our economy and society. Entrepreneurs often see opportunities where others see adversity, they uncover gaps in the market that others didn’t even know existed and disrupt the status quo. Their passion and enthusiasm are impressive.
John will now join other regional winners at the UK Finals in November.
