The summer of 2019 has seen the commencement of Castle Water’s internship programme. The programme sees selected school and university students gain the opportunity to take up paid internships within various Castle Water departments.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer these students the opportunity to experience the day-to-day activities of a modern, successful business.”
Claire Easy FCIPD, Castle Water’s Director of Human Resources
In Castle Water’s Blairgowrie offices, South Bromsgrove High student Eleanor Morris will be supporting Castle Water’s Marketing Team. Benjamin Morris from the University of Liverpool, Karri Russell from Abertay University and Zhuhan Jin from St. Andrews University will be working in Ops Finance.
In the company’s Ayr office, interns include Luke Lynch from the University of Strathclyde, Ruth Muir from Glasgow University and Leeanne Ruddock from Ayrshire College, who will be supporting Castle Water’s Administration department. As the summer continues, more interns will be taking up the opportunity to work with Castle Water in a variety of roles.
Blairgowrie High School student Callum Dawson, who will be spending his 6-week internship within Castle Water’s Marketing department, is confident he’ll be able to learn and make an impact.
“To see the range of campaigns and activities is impressive and exciting. I think there’s a lot to learn, but hopefully I can also bring some ideas and fresh thinking to the team. I’m looking forward to learning more about the work that goes into Castle Water’s marketing and to finding out if a career in Marketing is right for me.”
Callum Dawson, Castle Water Marketing Intern
Castle Water’s partnership with Blairgowrie High School and other further education institutions has allowed many students to gain insight and work experience from within Castle Water’s expanding business. In 2018, Perthshire Chamber of Commerce presented Castle Water with their Business Star award for Developing the Young Workforce, in recognition of their initiatives to improve both the recruitment potential and the preparedness of young people entering the workplace. Castle Water will also be participating in the Career Ready programme in conjunction Developing the Young Workforce and Blairgowrie High School. It will take place later this year.
“I’d say to any business that is seeking to access skills, motivation and enthusiasm – take the opportunity to work with schools. The inspiration and eagerness provided by our summer interns has given us all that extra spark.”
Castle Water CEO, John Reynolds OBE
