Castle Water: Making a splash

A council-run leisure centre in Essex contacted us to report pressure and supply issues threatening to shut the centre down.

Equipment was showing an error message for the mains water pressure, while pressure for the wet side supply (swimming pools and changing rooms) had fallen so low that the pools were likely to run dry. Supply to the dry side (other sports facilities and changes) had packed up altogether.

Castle Water’s specialist Crown Commercial Services (CCS) team contacted the customer’s wholesaler, who are responsible for infrastructure including the water meters, and briefed them on the situation, before handing over to the customer to fill in detail only they would know.

As the leisure centre emphasised that the water flowing into their tank could not keep up with daily demand, we directed the centre to the wholesale emergency line to discuss contingency options.

Over the course of the day the CCS Team made multiple calls to both customer and wholesaler, keeping everyone updated and getting a technician onsite to assess the problem.

The technician identified an internal leak at the site, and the centre was able to arrange with the wholesaler to have the leak repaired.

Thanks to our team’s dedication and experience, customer-wholesaler liaison went swimmingly.
