The Castle Water sponsored, Ardblair Stones, celebrated a remarkable new world record at the Alyth and District Agricultural Show on Saturday, 15 June 2019. Competitor, Janis Skujins living in Glencarse, successfully lifted all 9 stones in only 27.04 seconds.

The previous record was held by Kenneth Simm from Haddington, who lifted all 9 stones in 31.89 seconds at the 2017 Blairgowrie & Rattray Highland Games.

This year’s winner, Janis, now joins three other category winners who successfully secured a place at the IHGF Stones of Strength Scottish National Final. The final will be held at the Blairgowrie & Rattray Highland Games on Sunday 8th September.

Castle Water’s Gary Hinks meets those competitors who have secured a place at the IHGF Stones of Strength Scottish National Final.

“We are delighted to sponsor both the Alyth and District Agricultural Show and this year’s event has been excellent. As sponsors of the Ardblair Stones, we were also delighted to witness the setting of a new world record as Janis Skujins amazed spectators by lifting all 9 stones in just over 27 seconds. This was a terrific feat of strength and achieved in a very fast time indeed.”
