Castle Water Hydrates The 2023 Bowls Scotland National Championships

The UK’s largest independent business water retailer, Castle Water, are proud to sponsor the 2023 Bowls Scotland National Championships.

The National Championships took place from Sunday 23rd to Saturday 29th July at the National Centre for Bowling in Ayr. Established in 1893, the Scottish Championships are one of the oldest bowls competitions in the world. The event brings together some of the best players in the country as they compete in the weeklong tournament.

Castle Water supported the event by providing fresh drinking water stations across the venue for the duration of the Championships. Participants were able to fill their reusable water bottles at one of the stations, reducing the amount of single-use plastic waste.

Bowls Scotland CEO, Alan McMillan, said of the event: “Bowls Scotland were delighted to welcome Castle Water back to our National Championships in July after many years of working together in partnership. New for 2023 was the introduction of drinking water refill points around the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr which were provided and sponsored by Castle Water.

This new initiative was well received by players and spectators and will have helped reduce the number of single-use water bottles used throughout our weeklong event. As Bowls Scotland are committed to reducing our waste and carbon emissions we are excited to be working collaboratively with a company such as Castle Water who are committed to delivering a high quality and sustainable service to Bowling Clubs and Businesses across Scotland.”

Hugh Brown, Sales Director at Castle Water said: “Another fine week at the Bowls Scotland National Championships in Ayr. We really feel part of the flagship event, working with the Bowls team and collaborating with fellow sponsors, whom we have got to know well over the last few years. We have enjoyed chatting with club secretary’s and treasurers, and in fact all competitors and supporters.

I am confident that many more clubs will switch to Castle Water to benefit from our service and pricing. Many, many people have thanked us for providing water stations to enable top ups, instead of purchasing more plastic! The atmosphere is tremendous despite the showery weather.”
