Water SPID

The Supply Point ID (SPID) is your property reference number. Generally you will have one or two SPIDs per site. One is for your water connection (W) and one is for your waste connection (S).

Retail (R)

The R indicates the retail element of your charge.

SPID Address

Under the Supply Point ID you will find the supply address for your business.

Tariff

The tariff is the price you pay for your water. Unless you have a contract in place, the Scheme of Charges sets out the Default Charges applicable in your area. You can find the Scheme of Charges here.

This shows the time period for which your charges apply.

Meter reads are used to calculate the likely Average Daily Consumption for the period of your invoice. Did you know you can submit meter readings via our website at our meter reading page?

Read Date

The date of the meter reading.

Meter Serial Number

This is the unique serial number of your meter.

Chargeable Meter Size

Chargeable meter sizes relates to the chargeable size of your water pipe. Your bill is calculated based on the chargeable size provided by the Wholesaler.

Water Consumption

This is the volume of water you have used or are expected to use in the invoice period. It is the difference between the two meter readings displayed.

Return to Sewer

This is the Return to Sewer Allowance. The Majority of customers return 100% of water used, back into the sewer. However there can be a difference between the amount of water you use and the amount of wastewater you actually return to the sewer system and this can show as a reduced percentage (RSA%). If you have a RSA% deduction this will be taken from your ADC. For example if you have a RSA of 95% and an ADC of 0.1187 this will decrease the ADC to 0.1128 when calculating the usage. A RSA deduction will have a direct impact on the consumption (m3) and in the ‘Volumetric waste’ section, the new deducted figure will be reflected and used to work out your charges.

Wastewater Consumption

This figure is calculated based on your water consumption and your return to sewer allowance %.

Your Charges

This tables shows a breakdown of all your volumetric and fixed water and waste charges.

Volumetric Charges

These charges are based on the volume of water used by your business and the volume of wastewater disposed of down your drains i.e. sewer waste.

Unit Rate

This shows the rate of the units used for calculating the charge.

Number of Units

the number of units used for the calculation

Unit of Measure

The unit of measure, most commonly days or m3. 1 m3 (or cubic metre) is equivalent to 1,000 litres.

Charge

The charge - unit rate x number of units. Depending on rounding, these values may be out by a decimal place.

VAT

If you are liable for VAT, this is only applicable to your water charges and not your wastewater charges. Z (Zero), S (Standard). HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) requires us to ensure that we are correctly charging VAT on water services. It is possible that we will not have to charge VAT on your water services, but to confirm your position, please download and send us a completed Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) form. We are unable to make an assessment of your position without your completed form. If you do not return this form, we are required by HMRC to charge VAT by default on your water services. You can find the SIC form and further information on VAT charges at https://www.castlewater.co.uk/englandsicform.

VAT Type

This will show either Z or S. Z (Zero) is zero rate, S (Standard) is the standard rate of 20%.

Total

This figure shows your total charges for the current invoice period.

Fixed Charges

Fixed water charges are based on the retail tariff rate. More information can be found on the retail tariff rate at castlewater.co.uk/help-support/useful-resources

Fixed waste charges are applied to all properties for the maintenance of external pipes and pumps that supply water to your property plus the removal of wastewater from the property. Fixed waste charges are based on the retail tariff rate and the sewerage chargeable size of your meter. n/a = retail rate charge Numerical Value = sewerage chargeable size.
