At the end of August, Yorkshire Water applied TUBs across all their region. The hosepipe bans were introduced during the hot, dry weather period with reduced rainfall and significantly low water levels.
October and November have seen above average levels of rainfall in the Yorkshire area. This wet weather has helped Yorkshire Water reservoirs to begin to recover and reservoirs are now around 75% full, an increase of over 35% since the start of October.
Yorkshire Water helped to recover reservoirs through a range of drought schemes and drought permits. The collective efforts of the Wholesaler and Yorkshire community to save water has improved reservoir water levels to aid further demand next year.
Alongside TUBs and permits, Yorkshire Water have also increased their leakage activity and are on track to reduce leakage by over 9% this year. As part of their efforts to tackle and mitigate leakage, customers are still encouraged to use water wisely.
